Children in schools are facing unprecedented threats to their safety, survival, protection, and their learning and well-being. Climate change, COVID-19, violence, and conflict as well as natural, technological and everyday threats are exacerbating the global education crisis and threatening to derail progress on Sustainable Development Goals. Inequities are growing for children already marginalised by gender, disability, and poverty.

The Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience in the Education Sector (GADRRRES) undertook a global consultation in 2021 producing the Comprehensive School Safety Framework (CSSF) 2022-2030. This all-hazards, all-risks approach focuses on Enabling Systems and Policies, Safer School Facilities, School Safety and Educational Continuity Management, and Risk Reduction and Resilience Education to support child rights and resilience in the education sector.

On Monday 12 September 2022, GADRRRES launched the revised framework and called for endorsements and commitments to action. During this event, we:
