Stay safe and be prepared: a teacher’s guide to disaster risk reduction

The Guide is organized around four steps to becoming a DRR educator: 1) Why a teacher and his/her school should take on DRR learning and outlines basic concepts to be able to effectively facilitate DRR learning; 2) Ideas on how to facilitate DRR learning in a class, with colleagues, with parents and community members, as well as through co- and extra-curricular activities; 3) Ideas on how to make a school a safer place; 4) Focus on how to support students’ psychosocial recovery after a disaster. At the end of the Guide, a set of resources and a checklist are available to support DRR educators.
